How To View PSD Files Without Installing PhotoshopHave you ever sent a PSD file to a client and realized the second you hit the send button that you should have sent a flattened jpeg. It's easy to forget that not everyone has Photoshop installed on their computer. Resending is an easy fix but what if you could view the file without needing Photoshop or having to save in another file format. What about using Windows Explorer? Follow these simple steps and no longer will you be with a PSD file and no way to view it. The Geek Way: 01. Download psicon.dll from here:02. Now copy the downloaded file to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ShellIf this folder doesn't exist create it. 03. Now open Notepad and copy below text in it and save it as Photoshop.reg: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs] "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell\\psicon.dll"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx] [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.psd\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}] @="{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}] @="Photoshop Icon Handler" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0B6DC6EE-C4FD-11d1-819A-00C04FB69B4D}\InProcServer32] @="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\Shell\\psicon.dll" "ThreadingModel"="Apartment" OR Download this file and Save it: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?uzwqjyz3qtx or http://tutzone.wallheaven.com/pstrick/Photoshop.reg Now execute .Reg file you have made or downloaded and press Yes two times. You have successfully completed the steps. Now you can view .psd files in windows explorer just like other Image files. The Other Way: I prefer this method more, because this method Supports cut, dcx, dds, mdl, mng, pcd, pcx, pic, pix, png, pnm/pbm/pgm/ppm, psd/pdd, psp, pxr, sgi/rgb, tif/tiff, tga/vda/icb/vst, wal and xpm images. you can view all of these files in Windows Explorer. There comes a software named ThumbView Lite which does this job easily. This software is less than 0.5 megabyte! ThumbView supports an amazing 19 image types. |
